Basildon Council has now voted to spend £8 million (+ potentially £10m in policing costs) to evict Dale Farm.
They have not served the 28 days notice of eviction, but they can now do so at any time. Originally they had threatened to serve notice right away, but it now seems that it will be at least several weeks before this happens to allow time for further negotiations.
Pledge here to spend a night at Dale Farm
On April 9th, there will be an event at Dale Farm to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1st World Romani Congress, which took place in London in 1971. It is also International Zero Eviction Tolerance Day. More information to come soon.
Dale Farm Solidarity will be meeting every Sunday at 2pm at Freedom Bookshop, Angel Alley, 84b Whitechapel High Street, London E1 7QX (next to the KFC near Aldgate East tube station, here’s a map). Please come along if you would like to get involved!
If you’re a media, social media, PR or comms bod and you’d like to help, we’re meeting on Monday night at Aldgate East. Come along! On and offline support welcomed.
