Families forced to move to a car park after seeing their homes bulldozed

Four Traveller families who were evicted from Hovefields, Wickford, yesterday and moved into a car park at Gardiners Way, off Gardiners Lane South, Basildon, have been given until 12 noon to today (Wednesday) to leave.

Meanwhile, further evictions are to take place at Hovefields today, where Constant & Co bailiffs will continue to bulldoze Traveller properties, forcing more families to move out.

Gypsy Council vice-chair Cllr. Candy Sheridan is preparing a planning application for the location at Gardiners Way, which is owned by the Homes and Communities Agency, and leased to Cellex which has a sports facility nearby.

The Travellers, most of whom have made homeless applications to Basildon Council, are represented by Tom Lomax, solicitor 01132422797.
